Catherine Kwong’s “Salon de Thé” in the grand entry hall of the San Francisco Fall Show.

This year, the San Francisco Fall Show goes Italian as it celebrates the spirit of la dolce vita (the sweet life.)

The 41st edition of the Fall Show (formerly the Fall Antiques Show) will feature more than 40 dealers from around the world with an array of fine and decorative arts representing many styles and periods including American, English, Continental and Asian. In recent years, high-end examples of art deco and midcentury modern have also become more regular fixtures. With this year’s Italian theme, expect to see pieces by master designers like Ettore Sottsass, Piero Fornasetti, Harry Bertoia and others.

The Opening Night Gala, benefiting the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, will kick off the festivities on Wednesday, Oct. 11, with book signings and lectures scheduled throughout the show Oct. 12-15. Speakers this year include Nina Campbell, Newell Turner, Jean Liu, Miguel Flores-Vianna, Brigette Romanek, Michael Diaz-Griffith, Noz Nozawa, William Li and Alfredo Paredes. Lauren Santo Domingo, co-founder and chief brand officer of Moda Operandi and artistic director of the Tiffany & Co. Home Collection, is the event’s honorary chair and the designer of one of the four grand entry hall vignettes that greet fairgoers.
