Ballet22 dancer Daniel R. Durrett, a performer in and co-director of "Momentum," at Z Space on July 28 and 29.

Ballet22’s “Momentum” is set to present two world premieres by queer choreographers at Z Space. The company, which was established to break gender stereotypes and highlight the work of LGBTQ artists in ballet, will debut new work by New York choreographer Thang Dao and San Francisco dancer Lorris Eichinger (who currently dances with Lines Ballet).

The show will feature two classical works. “Sleeping Beauty Suite” by Marius Petipa includes excerpts from the ballet, including “Rose Adagio” as well as Petipa’s “The Shades” from the ballet “La Bayadere.” A contemporary piece by Lydia Sakolsky-Basquill, “Pink or Blue,” explores the restrictions the gender binary places on people. Ballet22 dancer and artistic adviser Daniel R. Durrett will also perform the “Lullaby Solo” from choreographer William Forsythe’s “Blake Works II.”

Dancers Ashton Edwards, Maxfield Haynes, Trevor Williams, Victor Maguad and Zsila Michael Hughes are slated to perform. “Momentum” is co-directed by Eichinger, Durrett and company executive director Theresa Knudson.
