The Old Skool Cafe, the youth-run, jazz-themed supper club in the Bayview, is scheduled to host its annual Harlem Renaissance Gala at the cafe this weekend.
For more than a decade, the Old Skool Cafe has been a well-known presence in the Bayview community by providing services and training for formerly incarcerated and foster care teens and young adults. The gala will be hosted by “Queen of the South” actor Alimi Ballard and Old Skool alumna, writer and filmmaker Tiffany Fuller.
In keeping with the Harlem Renaissance theme, guests are encouraged to dress in the spirit of the 1920s, and awards for best dressed will be given out that evening. If you’ve always wanted to channel the style of Langston Hughes or Zora Neale Hurston, now’s the time to go all out.
晚上会在clude live jazz, dancing and catering by the talented young workers who make the Old Skool Cafe the beloved destination it is.
Proceeds from the night go to supporting the organization’s training and other youth programs.
